Established in 1731, York Racecourse is today recognised as one of the top racecourses in the world. York’s flagship race, the £1m Group 1 Juddmonte International, was ranked the Longines World’s Best Race in 2020. In a normal year, more than 350,000 attend racedays at York over the 18 day season. Over 100 local people work full-time at the Racecourse which, alongside the 18 racedays, is host to over 700 non-raceday events. York Racecourse contributes more than £58 million per annum in terms of spend in the City.

Strong financial management is essential to the Racecourse which combines both centuries of tradition with delivering a modern sporting venue. The Racecourse reinvests all returns into the race programme, facilities and the raceday experience. York Racecourse has been voted UK ‘Racecourse of the Year’ for the last four years.
